Planned as a series of open pits and ditches dug into the ground, a gritty, no frills solution - where the refuse of daily life can be disposed of without ceremony. Large stone troughs collect waste, flowing down into deeper pits, where they are left to settle under the watchful eye of the Brown Charter. A modest stone building will be constructed nearby, where the true “filtration” happens. The workers here don’t shy away from getting their hands dirty, ensuring ‘build-up’ is kept to a minimum and that the Midden is kept running in a steady poetical rhythm. It is rough around the edges, practical but unrefined - maybe like the people who would rely upon it.
Investing in the Muckheape Midden ensures that what you do not want is where you do not need it - far away. A cleaner, safer environment for all to enjoy, without the less-than-lovely scent lingering in the air.
