In Honour of the Traveller, atop the Behemoth of Belief
"Across the grass and under the sky, the great beasts roam"

Now completed and roaming the wild expanses of southern Elandra, the Behemoth Shrine of the Traveller is among the most extraordinary moving sanctuaries ever constructed. Built in honour of The Traveller, the shrine rests atop the back of Moon-Helm, a particularly immense Craterfoot Longneck whose slow, thunderous passage has already become the subject of story and reverence alike.

Moon-Helm was first saddled and prepared outside Hammerstadt, where the monumental undertaking of securing and constructing the shrine upon her back was completed. Since then, she has been released to wander the vast forested and jungle-covered regions of southern Elandra, carrying the shrine endlessly across ridgelines, deep canopies, misted valleys, and open grasslands.

The shrine itself is a swaying structure of timber slats, reinforced bindings, and stretched leather sails, designed not to resist the movement of the great beast, but to move with it. Every step causes the temple to creak and shift in a slow, deliberate rhythm, like the measured sway of a pendulum too large to hurry. Nothing within is entirely still.

Leather loops hang from the ceiling beams throughout the shrine, allowing worshippers and travellers to steady themselves during the journey. Each loop carries symbolic meaning, representing paths walked, vows fulfilled, or prayers offered while in motion. Here, devotion is not found in permanence, but in travel itself.

Upon Moon-Helm’s great head rests a delicate observation platform where three tethered crows perch, secured lightly by silken cords. Their movements are carefully watched by the faithful, who interpret the birds’ shifting balance and reactions to the wind as omens and directional signs from The Traveller.

Running along the rear spine of the Craterfoot Longneck are ceremonial spikes fashioned from the bones of The Fallen. These relics clatter and rattle softly as Moon-Helm walks, their hollow sound echoing like dry breath across the wilderness. They stand both as warning and remembrance, a visible declaration that corruption and false paths ultimately end in ruin.

The shrine possesses no fixed destination and no permanent foundation. It is encountered rather than visited. Those fortunate enough to cross paths with Moon-Helm may walk alongside her for a time, climb to the shrine for prayer or reflection, and then depart once more as the great creature continues onward beneath the endless sky.

As she moves through Elandra, the faithful continue to whisper the shrine’s enduring mantra: “To The Fallen – it will be their bone. To The Faithful – it will come to them.” The Behemoth Shrine of the Traveller now exists not as a monument tied to one place, but as a living pilgrimage. A temple that walks, and a reminder that faith was never meant to stand still.
