Build the Horizons Depths

The submersible has an air problem, let's fix that.

The sea beneath the cavern keeps its secrets well. Earlier explorers found a trench that swallowed light itself, a black throat descending into the deep. After hours of blind travel, their vessel broke through the darkness into a vast, cold sight-line where ruins stood like bones: a temple, statues, and the scattered wrecks of ships that had fallen long before. They returned changed. Their craft was spent of its air and scarred by something unseen, and the crew fell sick on the climb back to the surface. Two did not survive the ascent. What lies below is worth charting, but the way down must first be made safe.

Horizons Edge answers with a new vessel and a new method. The Horizons Depths is a submersible sphere built to endure the pressure and the unknown. Its hull is not merely forged; it is woven. During manufacture the sphere will be subjected to Forge Weaving, drawing on the Perfect Reinforcement rite to lend the metal temporary hit points and a resilience beyond ordinary craft. Larger than its predecessor, it carries enough air for six souls for forty-eight hours, and its interior is arranged for long watches: a curved bench wrapping half the sphere, with lockers beneath for food, water, rope, and supplies.

Light enters through three-inch glass viewports, thick enough to stare into the abyss without flinching. An internal trapdoor, lined with tallow-coated leather seals, guards the heart of the sphere, while a waterproofed external hatch allows entry and exit—even into the water of the Abyss itself when the need arises. Four leg-support struts bear detachable weights; when released in sequence they grant a measured, controlled ascent, trading ballast for safety as the sphere climbs back toward the world above. On the deployment ship, a heavy crane and block-and-chain pulley will lower and retrieve the sphere, while a knotted fathom line pays out beneath it to log true depths for the charts to come.

This first stage is the forging of the vessel itself. Horizons Edge seeks investment to fund hull fabrication, Forge Weaving rites, interior fit-out, crane and pulley installation, and all works required to bring the Horizons Depths to sea-ready condition. Disbursement will be released upon contract award, and the stage will be considered complete when the sphere is built, woven, fitted, and handed over for trials, with a formal readiness declaration issued to commence Stage 2.

Upon approval, Horizons Edge will begin hull fabrication with Forge Weaving integrated from the outset, fit the interior and viewports, and install the shipboard crane in preparation for unmanned sea trials.
