The Orphanage Di 'Hubris now stands in Revasso, Portavas, as a fully funded sanctuary for children left without families by the ravages of war. Established as a place of safety, stability, and compassionate care, it provides not only shelter, but the structure and support needed for children to rebuild their lives with dignity and hope.
Constructed primarily from timber and reinforced with stone where lasting strength is required, the orphanage has been designed around a secure central courtyard that serves as the heart of the institution. Filled with light and open air, this protected gathering space provides children with a peaceful environment for play, rest, and companionship within the safety of the orphanage's walls.
The building is arranged across two principal floors. The first houses five spacious dormitories, each accommodating up to ten children under the dedicated supervision of an assigned caretaker, ensuring consistent guidance, emotional support, and daily care. The upper floor contains accommodation for staff alongside the administrative facilities that oversee the orphanage's operation, allowing those responsible for the children's wellbeing to remain close at all times.
Communal kitchens, bathing facilities, medical rooms staffed by nurses, and secure storage areas provide for the daily needs of every resident. At the centre of the orphanage's educational mission is its library, offering opportunities for both structured learning and personal discovery. The administrative heart of the building, Amaro's Room, stands in honour of Amano Di 'Hubris, serving as the centre for record-keeping, guardianship, and the careful management of the institution.
Throughout the orphanage, the traditions of House Di 'Hubris are reflected through subtle architectural motifs dedicated to The Shadow. Symbols of locks, webs, and cloaks appear throughout the building, representing protection, guardianship, and the quiet strength of family. These emblems serve not only as decoration but as enduring reminders that every child within these walls is deserving of safety and care.
Each resident is entrusted with a personal lockbox, symbolically tied to The Shadow, where treasured belongings and keepsakes may be safely stored. More than simple storage, these lockboxes represent identity, trust, and the understanding that every child deserves something they can truly call their own.
Today, the Orphanage Di 'Hubris stands as far more than a refuge. It has become a home where children affected by conflict are given security, education, compassion, and the opportunity to grow beyond the hardships of their past. Within its walls, the forgotten are remembered, the lost are guided, and the foundations of brighter futures are built every day.
